The Washington, DC-based Corcoran Gallery of Art and Corcoran School of Art shared many of the same constituents in their membership, alumni, and development databases.  Even though each department of both the gallery and the school ran different systems, JCA was able to link their databases and convert the data into one Raiser's Edge® database.

The Membership, Alumni, and Development Office were all working on separate databases, yet often dealing with the same constituents. We converted and merged the multiple databases into one Raiser's Edge® for Windows SQL Anywhere database.

Since the membership, donor and alumni records were coming from Fund-Master (multiple organizations), Access, Paradox and ASCII Text lists, we designed a standard set of codes and mapped the data from the different systems in a consistent manner. Additionally, JCA performed all aspects of the pre-conversion planning, including a complete restructuring of funds, appeals, events and school codes.  To combat the possibility of the creation of duplicate records, JCA built custom merge-purge routines to de-dupe the comprehensive database.  The Corcoran can now easily access data from all departments, from both the gallery and school, without reporting duplicate records.
