History

In 1988, when JCA first began working with nonprofits, our goal was to help organizations use technology more effectively. Back then, that meant moving our clients from note cards to fundraising software and installing a local area network to replace all those floppy disks. Clearly our sector has come a long way in the past twenty years. So has JCA. But our goal of helping our clients to work efficiently and effectively remains unchanged.

As each successive wave of innovation has had its impact on the country’s leading nonprofit organizations, we've been there to provide our clients with expert guidance. Towards the end of the 1990s, the first wave of consolidation in the fundraising software market and concerns about Y2K compatibility resulted in many nonprofits selecting and implementing new software for fundraising, membership, and ticketing. During this period JCA helped organizations in every sector of the nonprofit world migrate to new systems, developing the successful methodologies and technical infrastructure that continue to serve as the foundation for much of what we do today.

After 2000, many of our clients found themselves with software that they didn't fully understand, that had functionality they were unable to fully utilize, or that wasn't customized to meet their unique needs. Others saw inefficiencies in the use of their software that had developed over time. Problems like these hampered the ability of many organizations to efficiently raise money and serve their constituents. While we continued to provide assistance with system selections and integrations, we began to work with more and more clients who sought our help to better use the systems they already had by providing business process improvement and project management consulting.

The tools an organization uses are only the beginning; at JCA we understand that working effectively means working with people. Efficient operations are fundamental to the mission and success of every organization. Dollars and time wasted on redundant data entry, inefficient procedures, and outmoded business practices detract from the positive impact an organization can have on its constituents. Our consultants are dedicated to leading change in concert with those whose mission is fostering change. We are dedicated to helping all of the clients we serve to achieve unparalleled efficiency so they can pursue their missions with maximum effectiveness.

This was true in 1988, it is true today and it will be true tomorrow.

Demand experience, demand the best, demand JCA.
