Steven Birnbaum

Chief Operating Officer

Steven Birnbaum has over 15 years of experience in nonprofit management, with particular expertise in organizational planning, technology implementation, and change management.  A recognized expert in large organizations, Steve has planned and managed projects with many of JCA’s larger clients including the ACLU, Catholic Charities of the USA, Boston Symphony Orchestra, Children’s Hospital Trust, University of California, Riverside, and many others.   Steve’s comprehensive knowledge of the newest developments in the nonprofit technology industry is a critical part of JCA expertise.  Steve has built relationships with vendors across the nonprofit marketplace, including donor systems, web-based CRMs, ticketing and admissions, education management, check automation, and more.

As Chief Operating Officer of JCA, Steve is currently responsible for managing delivery of consulting services and new business development.  He also provides strategic guidance for large organizations launching complex technology initiatives.   

Steve lives in Princeton, New Jersey, with his wife and three children.  In addition to working with nonprofits as part of his vocation, he is an active member of the local community and currently serves on the Board of the Capital Health Foundation in Trenton, New Jersey. 

Prior to joining JCA, Steve worked in development technology at the Guggenheim Museum and in direct marketing for Ogilvy & Mather Direct.  Steve holds a Bachelor of Arts from Vassar College.  Committed to maintaining and sharing his knowledge in this fast-changing environment, Steve often leads educational sessions at industry conferences, including AFP, AHP, APRA and AZA.
