The Corcoran School of Art

The Corcoran School of Art was founded in 1890 and is the only professional college of art and design located in downtown Washington DC.

The Membership, Alumni, and Development Offices were all working on separate databases, yet often dealing with the same constituents. We converted and merged the multiple databases into The Raiser's Edge®. Since the membership, donor and alumni records were coming from FundMaster Access, Paradox and ASCII Text lists, we designed a standard set of codes and mapped the data from the different systems in a consistent, standardized manner. We performed all aspects of the pre-conversion planning, including a complete restructuring of funds, appeals, events and school codes. To combat the possibility of the creation of duplicate records, we built custom merge-purge routines to de-dupe the database.  The Corcoran can now easily access data from all departments, from both the gallery and school, without reporting duplicate records.
