JCA Co-Presenting Prospect Management Model at AFP 2014
Business Intelligence Group Director Steve Beshuk to Speak on Making Data Useable
Managing a major giving program requires tracking a lot of data: research about prospects, their relationships, wealth ratings, affinity ratings, prospect manager assignments, volunteer solicitors, event participation, giving history, gifts to other organizations, solicitation stage, moves, actions, contact reports, and more. Data is valuable, but building a prospect management model (PMM) allows organizations to make sense of it, make it useable and track the right information. The PMM provides a structure to organize extensive and varied information into a cohesive whole. Whether part of a new system implementation or optimization of an existing system, the PMM helps staff to create meaningful reports and dashboards, train fundraisers and data entry staff and manage program and activities strategically. JCA's Business Intelligence Group Director Steve Beshuk will co-present "Prospect Management Model: Whipping Your Prospect Data Into Shape" with representatives from All Children's Hospital on Monday, March 24, at 1:30pm at the 2014 AFP International Conference in San Antonio, Texas. Calculating ROI for Nonprofit Technology Projects

In this session, attendees will learn the essential components to a proper ROI calculation for a nonprofit organization, what differentiates true ROI from general case statements, and how to assign a value to intangible benefits. Through specific case-study examples, JCA Director Ellen Duero Rohwer, CFRE, will review what is distinct to nonprofit charitable and membership organizations, and the unique challenges to ROI calculations for nonprofits. The presentation will take place Tuesday, March 4, at 1:45pm, at the AUDC 2014 Users & Developers Conference in Orlando. Posted 2/24/14
JCA Director Ellen Duero Rohwer Co-Presenting at CASE II with UNH
Ready, Set, Go! Measuring Organizational Preparedness for System Implementation
A successful CRM implementation requires organizational stability, a commitment to improving business processes, and a firm time commitment from staff. To ensure success, organizations must bear in mind not only obvious factors such as time and cost, but the less tangible aspects, such as staffing, skillsets, organization structure, reactions to change and new technology, and the internal political climate. Is there a business case for the implementation? How about the capability and capacity to perform the work? JCA Director Ellen Duero Rohwer, CFRE, and University of New Hampshire Associate Vice President for Advancement Services Misty McCarty will review the tools that an organization needs to evaluate its ability to take on such a project and to prepare itself for success. The presentation will take place Tuesday, February 11, at 9am, at the 2014 CASE District II Conference. Posted 2/4/14
The Art and Science of Forecasting for Entertainment Ticketing Professionals
JCA President and CEO Steve Jacobson to present at INTIX 2014.
In a volatile market, how can arts organizations make critical forecasting decisions that are based on fact rather than intuition? When it comes to budgeting, program planning, marketing and revenue management, a scientific approach can be used to forecast sales but for arts organizations, the qualitative judgments based on experience often tip the balance. How do you apply scientific standards to a ‘gut feeling’? JCA President and CEO Steve Jacobson and co-presenters from Lyric Opera, Baker Richards, and Los Angeles Philharmonic will discuss the variables to use when forecasting, including showing a new system developed to help budgeting across a large and complex festival, and a new approach to repertoire coding for symphonies. Learn how you can combine qualitative judgments with business intelligence to create a practical approach to fortune telling. The presentation will take place on Tuesday, January 28, at 2pm, at the 2014 INTIX Conference in Chicago, Illinois. Posted 1/21/14
