Client Development Specialist

Summary 

The Client Development Specialist supports our company-wide marketing and sales efforts. As a member of our distributed team, you’re part of a company with more than 30 years’ experience providing nonprofits with technical solutions and improving their business processes to help them engage with their constituents. You work with JCA leadership and consultants to pursue sales opportunities, providing support throughout the process. In collaboration with the Marketing and Sales Coordinator, you execute marketing plans and logistics to enhance the company’s client development and growth goals to help us help our clients. 

Responsibilities 

Sales Support 

  • Provide clients and prospective customers with support throughout the sales process. 
  • Provide administrative support to colleagues, including preparing sales presentations, scheduling meetings, and finalizing contracts. 
  • Develop proposal and work order drafts, using JCA’s document repository and working knowledge of JCA’s offerings. 
  • Support account management activities with the goal of strengthening JCA client relationships. 
  • Provide data management support in Autotask for account and opportunity records. 
  • Receive and evaluate inbound inquiries. 
  • Respond to ad-hoc external prospect recommendations and referrals. 

Opportunity Generation 

  • In collaboration with JCA Leadership, identify and rank target market segments to determine areas for focus, develop strategies for identifying and cultivating targeted organizations and individuals. 
  • Determine opportunity targets required to support our annual goals. 
  • Track trends, opportunities, competitors, and challenges for sales. 
  • Provide administrative support for partnership development including meeting coordination, marketing and sales collateral development, and other tasks as assigned.  
  • Represent JCA at conferences and trade shows throughout the year. 
  • Cultivate relationships with prospects and lapsed client accounts to enhance their perceptions of JCA, identify potential future opportunities, and cultivate referrals. 

Conference and Event Coordination  

  • Assist Operations Administrator and Marketing and Sales Coordinator with JCA’s presence at conferences and other events, including exhibit/sponsorship coordination, shipping/receiving/storage logistics for conference materials, travel arrangements, and special events.  
  • Facilitate touchpoints on behalf of colleagues attending conferences, both pre- and post-attendance. 
  • Assist Operations Administrator in logistical planning for annual Company Retreat, including hotel, transportation, programming, prize, and event logistics. 

Skills 

You are successful as the Client Development Specialist because you: 

  • understand the nonprofit sector; 

  • are an excellent communicator, both written and verbal; 

  • are exceptionally organized; 

  • are an excellent presenter; 

  • communicate effectively with executives and decision makers at prospects and clients to understand challenges and identify solutions; 

  • prospect new leads, identify key decision makers, and network to uncover new opportunities; 

  • use a sales CRM tool to manage daily activities; 

  • are experienced with Development/Advancement CRM systems such as the Raiser’s Edge, Affinaquest, ascend, or Ellucian Advance; and 

  • work collaboratively in a team. 

Qualifications 

You are qualified for the position because you: 

  • have at least two years’ experience working in nonprofit administration, services, fundraising, or related area;  

  • have at least one year of experience in sales; and 

  • have adhered to a consultative structured sales process. 

You have an advantage in the position if you: 

  • are based in the Chicagoland area of Illinois. 

  • have at least two years’ experience selling to nonprofit organizations; and 

  • have experience selling professional services. 

Requirements 

You may be required to: 

  • work remotely from a home office or other remote space; 

  • work 40 hours per week, as this is a full-time position; 

  • travel up to six times per year; 

  • remain in a stationary position for the majority of an eight-hour workday; and/or 

  • move boxes weighing up to 25 pounds for various needs.
