Laura Burgos

Marketing Strategy Consultant

Laura Burgos has had a dynamic career spanning a diversity of performing arts disciplines, organizations, and roles. Prior to JCA, she was the Director of Marketing & Communications at the Oregon Shakespeare Festival (OSF) where she restarted OSF’s marketing work post-pandemic, designed a new team structure for an inclusive and forward-looking marketing team, and created new segmentation strategies, with a particular focus on bringing in new audiences. Before that, Laura spent four years at Lyric Opera of Chicago (Lyric), serving as Senior Director of Digital & Analytics. In this role, she oversaw all aspects of digital marketing and fundraising and was instrumental in modernizing Lyric through a rebranding project, a website migration and redesign, and the launch of Lyric’s first digital programs. She also helmed many of Lyric’s analytics projects, including implementing a post-performance survey collection and reporting process.

During her time in Chicago, she also served as Board President of Broken Nose Theatre, a Pay-What-You-Can company that develops and produces new work in the city. Prior to Lyric, Laura specialized in website analytics and digital campaigns at widely recognized arts-industry innovator Capacity Interactive, where she worked with clients from all over the United States. Laura holds a BA in Interdisciplinary Studies in the Humanities (Poetry, Shakespeare, and Theatre) from the University of Chicago and an MBA from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business.

MORE ABOUT LAURA

Where do you work? Where are you from?

I’m currently based out of Ashland, Oregon but planning a move to Seattle. I grew up all around, including Pueblo, CO and MĂ©rida, Yucatán, MX but spent most of my childhood in Tampa, Florida.

What do you do at JCA?

I’m a Marketing Strategy Consultant which means I help clients with any and all Marketing issues/needs/etc. Everything from marketing strategy to campaign planning to interim staffing.

What is your background? What brought you to JCA?

I’m an analytics person at my core—I began working in marketing because I loved how measurable digital marketing, in particular, was and how it could be used to help make smarter decisions, outside of “this is how it’s always been done”. I’d worked with JCA as a client in the past and, when the opportunity to join presented itself, it was a very natural fit for me, given my background in data- focused marketing.

What do you do outside of JCA?

I’m an avid Star Trek fan and am part of a weekly digital watch party that’s been going strong since 2018 🖖🏽 I enjoy starting new craft projects (I’ve relearned to knit three different times), board games (ask me about my cooperative collection), and watching any and all sports (please don’t try to make plans with me while the Olympics are going on, unless you’re coming over to watch).
