2023 JCA Company Meeting in Portland
At the end of April, 22 of JCA’s employees gathered in Portland, Oregon for our annual company meeting. Given that JCA is a distributed company with staff members across the United States and Canada, we prioritize taking the time to gather annually to discuss the state of the company, industry trends, and how to better serve our nonprofit clients.
Each day of the meeting consisted of sessions programmed, developed, and presented by our team. Every member participated in a session—leading a discussion, presenting new service offerings, guiding us through a team building activity, and more.
We were fortunate to be joined by President & CEO of Tessitura Andrew Recinos for a presentation on trends in arts and culture. Andrew’s presentation was followed by a panel discussion with JCA CEO Steve Jacobson and Director of Arts Marketing Jamie Alexander, and a Q&A with our staff. We are so appreciative of Andrew spending some time with us, especially as a former member of the JCA team.
Of course, we couldn’t spend the entire time focused on business. We returned to our in-person Jake Awards for the first time since 2017. For these annual awards, team members nominate their peers for awards in categories like “Going Above and Beyond” and “Living JCA’s Core Values.” It’s a great way to celebrate our colleagues, and the in-person ceremony made it that much more special.
We also enjoyed a fun night of activities at Punch Bowl Social (we’ve got some excellent bowlers!) and the team participated in a Portland themed scavenger hunt.
And, in what is becoming a tradition, there was late night karaoke.
We look forward to next year’s adventures and the exciting work our team promotes together.
