JCA Employees Volunteer 150 Hours to Advance Company-Wide Initiative to Strengthen Communities

July 10, 2023

For a number of years, JCA has offered paid volunteer time to our staff. This year, we challenged our team to increase our reach. To further strengthen our communities, we set a goal of providing 350 volunteer hours. Now that we are halfway through the year, we are happy to provide an update that we have over 150 hours already completed or committed.

As a consulting firm dedicated to helping nonprofits, it’s important to be actively engaged in our own communities. Our volunteer experiences inspire us on our quest to help organizations who are making the world better. We’re happy to share some of the volunteer work our team has participated in so far this year below.

JCA’s Chicago Team – Jamie Alexander, Jonathan Carpenter, Kelly Cronin Krein, and Kay Rollinson

Our Chicago Team spent the day with the Greater Chicago Food Depository helping pack bell peppers in the morning and pinto beans in the afternoon to be distributed to the food bank’s partners. As part of larger groups throughout the day, the team contributed to over 11,000 pounds of food that was then distributed throughout the Chicago community.

Brittany Ivey

Brittany is a board member for her local chapter of Girls on the Run Greater Knoxville. This spring, Brittany helped plan and execute their Girls on the Run 5K, which is the season ending event for the organization, where participants can have a tangible sense of accomplishment as they cross the finish line. Brittany also “adopted” participating elementary schools and gifted them a special reward for completing the race.

Holly Parrish

Holly volunteers with her church’s Handbell Ringers and Singers group. The group fundraises for trips and presents free concerts to their host organizations. These concerts are then used as fundraising events to support local charities in the communities of their host organizations, including addressing homelessness, addiction, and historic preservation. Recently, Holly’s group traveled to Ireland, where they performed six concerts in Kildare, Cloughjordan, Adare, Limerick, Belfast, and Moville.

Kay Rollinson

On Earth Day, Kay volunteered with Chicago’s My Block, My Hood, My City to plant bucket gardens full of flowers, herbs, and vegetables and deliver them to some of the city’s elders on the south and west sides of Chicago. With a large group of volunteers, Kay contributed to 750 buckets gardens that were planted and delivered.

Jennifer Sowinski Nemeth

As an avid cat lover, Jennifer has been spending time volunteering with her local cat rescue, 4Paws, in Virginia. The organization places adoptable cats in Petco locations. Jennifer helps care for the cats by cleaning their cages, feeding them, and best of all, playing with them.
