Shannon Abitbol has been working with nonprofits since 2006, in areas from fundraising to community engagement to leadership to consulting and many roles in between. She has helped to implement CRM systems and database conversion projects in United Ways in Washington and California. As a consultant to the United Way of Greater Los Angeles, Shannon helped facilitate change management as the organization overhauled its operational approach to a strategy of community engagement, in the midst of a database conversion to Microsoft CRM. Most recently, Shannon has been the Executive Director of GiveVisuals, a start-up nonprofit that works with volunteers from the film industry to create short films for small nonprofits around the world in visually communicating their message. As a knowledgeable nonprofit leader, Shannon has experience in fundraising, operations, technology solutions, volunteer management, and board relations.
MORE ABOUT SHANNON
Where do you work? Where are you from?
I live and work in Lakeland, FL, a growing city between Tampa and Orlando. I grew up in the Orlando area and moved out of the state after graduating from the University of Florida in 2004 with a BS in Public Relations. I’ve lived in several states since then, including Texas, Washington, California, Virginia, and Maryland, and ended up back in Florida in 2018.
What do you do at JCA?
I am a consultant in the Professional Services division of JCA, bringing experience both as a nonprofit leader and a consultant. I know the struggles of nonprofits in competing priorities to achieve an organizational mission, and I believe in the importance of aligning the mission to process and technology for impactful organizational results.
What is your background? What brought you to JCA?
I have worked in nonprofits since 2006 in a variety of roles, and I love the idea of big picture thinking, strategizing and supporting nonprofits using my experience. I have both led and supported technology integrations and change management strategies, as well led a small nonprofit.
What do you do outside of JCA?
Outside of JCA, I love to enjoy the outdoors and soak up the Florida sun. I have three kids that keep my life quite active, and I also teach yoga at a local studio as a certified instructor (RYT-200). I have a long history and love of running, and am a certified RRCA running coach. When I have down time, I love to curl up with a good book. I absolutely love coffee, and rely on it in my busy life.
