Session Description
Title: Mission-focused Pricing: Finding the Balance between Revenue and Community
Summary: In this session, we will discuss the critical importance of pricing in helping an orchestra achieve its mission. Pricing strategies are complex, requiring careful balance to meet multiple organizational objectives. It’s essential to maximize revenue to fund the organization, but it’s also important to sell as many tickets as possible to create an energetic and positive experience for both the audience and the orchestra. On top of that, pricing also has the power to foster and communicate an atmosphere of welcome and inclusivity for all patrons. This last point is what we call Radical Pricing.
Radical Pricing encompasses pricing strategies that are designed to place extraordinary emphasis on welcoming all members of your local community into your organization. These strategies include everything from pick-your-price tickets, to subsidized ticket prices, to being deliberate about where the lowest priced seats are located in your venue.
This session will feature a panel of pricing strategists from differently sized orchestras in the League, hosted by a pricing expert from JCA Arts Marketing. Together, we will delve into all aspects of pricing and uncover ideas and best practices for meeting a wide range of organizational objectives.
